If you reflect back on all the time and money invested in school studying various subjects, how much time was devoted to learning about important life topics such as personal finance, relationships, living a healthy lifestyle, or how to choose a career? If you are like me, the answer is zero. Many people invest a significant portion of their childhood and young adult life into pursuing an education to prepare for a career, but fail to prepare for life.
Several years ago I decided to help bridge the gap in the education I received and began by reading numerous personal development books. Unfortunately, without taking notes I quickly forgot most of what I read, and more importantly rarely took any steps to apply what I learned. Apply Books was formed to provide key concepts that can be applied from personal development books in five broad categories that are imperative to living a fulfilling life:
Psychology & Personal Development
These five topics are also inter-related in many respects. After all, it’s more difficult to achieve career success if your relationships are suffering or your health is deteriorating, or you are up all night worrying about personal finances.
A college degree may prepare you for a career, but will it truly prepare you to live a successful and fulfilling life? Many college students don’t think twice about accumulating thousands of dollars of debt to pursue a degree, but fail to invest in learning about topics that will ultimately have an even greater impact on their life. Thankfully there are topic experts in each of the five categories that have made it their life’s work to write books that have the potential to transform your thinking, and ultimately your course in life. We are all short on time these days, so I have distilled the key concepts from the books into summaries that can be read in 15 minutes or less and included action steps to take. The blog section of the website includes short articles I have written about topics related to the books to further help you on your journey. Remember, knowledge is power, but only if applied!
